Dragon Models (MONO) 1:35 scale IJN Type 2 Amphibious Tank "Ka-Mi" Combat Version MD008 scale model kit
This 1/35 scale kit is a special release from the Dragon Models and MONO collaboration, presenting the Type 2 "Ka-Mi"—the most prolific amphibious tank used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. Based on the Type 95 Ha-Go light tank, the Ka-Mi was extensively modified with a watertight hull and detachable pontoons for island-hopping campaigns.
-
Amphibious Equipment: Includes the large, hollow front and rear pontoons that gave the tank its buoyancy. These are detailed with slide-molded parts and can often be assembled to show the tank in its water-borne configuration.
-
Combat Configuration: The kit allows for the depiction of the tank as it appeared in combat (often with pontoons jettisoned upon landing), highlighting the unique "boat-shaped" hull and rubber seal attachments.
-
Turret & Armament: Features a fully detailed turret with a 37mm main gun and a coaxial Type 97 machine gun. The turret top rail and hatch details are sharply molded.
-
Exhaust Stack: Includes the distinctive high-mounted exhaust extension used to prevent water intake during amphibious operations.
-
Suspension Detail: Accurately reproduces the internal suspension system (bell crank) which was located inside the hull to maintain a watertight seal, unlike the external suspension of standard tanks.
-
Photo-Etched Parts: typically includes a fret of photo-etched metal parts to refine the engine deck grilles and exhaust muffler covers.
