• 1/35 scale Soviet Object 279 Heavy Tank plastic model kit by HobbyBoss (Kit No. 80158)
• Represents the extraordinary Object 279 experimental heavy tank developed by the Soviet Union during the late 1950s
• One of the most distinctive experimental armoured vehicle designs of the Cold War era
• Features the unmistakable elliptical, heavily sloped hull designed to provide exceptional protection
• Equipped with an unusual four-track running system, with two tracks positioned on each side of the vehicle
• The four-track arrangement was intended to distribute the tank’s considerable weight and improve mobility over difficult terrain
• Armed with the powerful 130mm M-65 rifled main gun
• Secondary armament included a 14.5mm KPVT heavy machine gun mounted coaxially with the main weapon
• Powered in prototype form by a high-output diesel engine to move the approximately 60-tonne vehicle
• Object 279 was developed as part of Soviet efforts to create a new generation of heavily protected breakthrough tanks
• Its unusual hull form was also intended to improve resistance to the blast effects associated with a nuclear battlefield environment
• Development culminated in a prototype constructed in 1959
• The Object 279 remained an experimental prototype and never entered series production or operational service
• The Soviet heavy-tank development programme was subsequently curtailed as military priorities shifted toward more practical main battle tank concepts
• 1/35 scale makes this unusual vehicle compatible with Cold War Soviet figures, equipment and diorama accessories
• Excellent choice for collectors of Soviet armour, experimental tanks, Cold War vehicles and unusual military technology
• Four-track suspension and unconventional hull shape give the finished model a striking appearance alongside conventional tanks
• Large armour surfaces provide excellent opportunities for Soviet green finishes, tonal variation, washes and weathering
• Running gear offers plenty of scope for realistic mud, earth, dust and worn-metal effects
• A highly distinctive centrepiece for any experimental or prototype armour collection
• Kit supplied unpainted and unassembled
• Glue and paint not included
• Recommended for experienced modellers aged 14+
